MUS 3618 - American Pop: Popular and Commercial Music in the US (1800-Present) (3) [GenEd: HS] When Offered: Fall GEN ED: Historical Studies Designation; Intercultural Literacy This course will examine how music industries produce, disseminate, and shape the reception of popular music in the United States from 1800 to the present. Examining key changes in music technology, industry practices and corporate policies, and law and legislative policy, students will consider how music production influences aesthetics, and structures how audiences experience, consume, and interpret music. Prerequisite: MUS 2617 .
