Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)
Foundations of American Democracy Requirement Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements. Program Requirements

(not including 3 semester hours for PSY 1200 ; already counted in General Education requirements, above) 2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major discipline, plus any other courses under major and concentration requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered through Appalachian State University. Introduction to Discipline (4 Hours)

Any PSY Service Learning course will fulfill this requirement except PSY 2100 . Applied Psychology (6 Hours)
Choose at least two courses from the following Capstone Course (3 Hours)
Choose at least one course from the following (PSY 3100 is a prerequisite for each of these courses) Psychology Elective Courses (Choose 6 Hours)
PSY 1200 is a prerequisite for each of these courses, and PSY 3100 is a prerequisite for some of these courses. Choose at least six (6) hours from PSY 2210 or any PSY 3000-3999 or any PSY 4000-4999 courses not used to meet another major requirement or other degree requirement. Science/Math Requirement (3 Hours)
Choose at least three (3) credit hours from AST, BIO, CHE, GES, PHY, STT, MAT, or KIN 2035 , KIN 2040 , KIN 2050 , or KIN 2700 . Classes excluded from the hours are any math and science courses used to meet a general education requirement or other major requirements or STT 1810 , STT 2810 , STT 2820 , MAT 1001 , and MAT 1010 . Human Services Concentration (21 Hours)
Minimum of 21 semester hours Any course used to satisfy a general education requirement cannot be used to satisfy a concentration requirement. All courses must be at the 2000 level or above. 21 semester hours must come from at least two of the following academic areas or courses: American Sign Language, Counseling, Family Therapy, and Higher Education (MFT, LDS, CDE prefixes only), Child Development, Literacy and Special Education (SPE prefix only), Communication Science & Disorders, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, BIO 4563 , COM 2124 , PHL 3015 , PHL 3030 , PSY 2211 , PSY 2212 , PSY 2305 .
